Nine Centuries of Preston History
The Prestons are one of Scotland’s ancient landed families, their name derived from the Old English preost-tun — the priest’s settlement. From their ancestral seat in Lothian, the clan spread across Scotland and, through centuries of war, commerce, and emigration, across the world. Their story is one of loyalty to the Scottish Crown, fierce independence, and enduring faith.
Today, descendants of the Preston line live on every continent. This registry is the first step toward reuniting them under their ancient banner — and petitioning the Lord Lyon King of Arms in Edinburgh for formal recognition as a standing Scottish clan.
